The winners of the 2022 Washington Area Music Awards were announced Saturday night, with a Loudoun favorite taking the Wammie trophy for Best Country/Americana song.
Melissa Quinn Fox penned “Back There” more than a decade ago. The song got a fresh ballad treatment during a 2021 recording session working with Music Row veteran PT Houston at Off The Row Recording Studio near Nashville.
“Love and thanks to everyone who has believed in and supported my music and congratulations to all the other talented winners and nominees,” Fox posted on social media after the ceremony.

Fox performs throughout the region. Upcoming shows in Loudoun include April 9 at Social House Kitchen & Tap in Ashburn, April 16 at Vanish Brewery in Lucketts, and April 30 at Lost Rhino Brewing in Ashburn.
