Deputy Shoots Leg at Ashburn Training Center

A deputy with the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office was hospitalized this morning after he unintentionally discharged a round from his duty weapon into his leg at the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy.

The shooting, which was not training-related, occurred at 8:16 a.m.

The academy staff rendered first aid until medical crews arrived and transported the deputy to the hospital. The injury was reported as non-life-threatening.
