Storms Leave Thousands without Power in Loudoun

More than 3,000 homes and businesses in Loudoun were without power Monday afternoon as strong storms moved through the region.

A line of storms Sunday night dumped more than an inch of rain, while high winds and lighting strikes brought down trees across roadways and power lines.

As crews continued clean up from that storm, another front moved in Monday afternoon, prompting more weather alerts and additional damage.

The area remains under a severe storm watch until 10 p.m.

Several roads in western and northern Loudoun remain closed as crews remove trees and repair power lines.
