St. Francis Knights Recognized for 25 Years of Blood Donations

For 25 years, the St. Francis Counsel Knights of Columbus club in Purcellville has be getting area residents to roll up their sleeves and donate a pint to Inova Blood Donor Services.

More than 800 gallons later, the program is still going strong.

The effort launched in 1993, primarily for the congregation of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Over the years, it has grown to a wider community event and the collection site moved from the church to the Purcellville Public Safety Center.

On Sept. 22, the campaign’s founders and organizers were given special recognition from Inova Fixed Site Collections Manager A.J. Hughes, who said the Knights of Columbus effort may be the region’s longest continuing blood-donation program.
